About Us

Formerly named the ‘Pack Horse Inn & Old Posting House’ in the 1600’s,  the Welch Gate has stood the test of time throughout Bewdley’s history. Bewdley was built as a stop-over town back in the 1600’s, due to being the main waterway via the river Severn to Birmingham & many other towns & cities, since then prospectors & such have increased the size of the town & its population to what it is today, (12,000+), whilst maintaining its local charm.

Linda & Steve took over the Welch Gate as a Fish & Chip Shop in 1985 & have built up a steady & satisfying cliental, both locally & not so local, in 2000 they changed the business to a diner & received very complimentary reviews from all their customers, local & regional newspapers & still carry the torch for Sunday Roasts.

The Welch Gate Guest House was completed late 2008 & has already received great reviews from all of its guests, we have endeavoured to create a superb high quality & luxurious guest house, which is both relaxing & pleasurable, whilst encapsulating the local attractions & the vastly historical picturesque Town.
